Sherrille Simmons, 80, of Jones Michigan, formerly of Elkhart Indiana, passed away Thursday July 7, 2022 in Three Rivers Michigan.

She was born in Indianapolis Indiana, daughter of Frederick Wallace and Marguerite Maxine (Gilbert) Cunningham.

Sherrille’s career was in sales and she was a graduate of Elkhart High School in 1959.

Sherrille was an accomplished Saxophonist, who loved going to and supporting her children’s sports. She was quick witted, spunky, persevered and tenacious. She was a lover of Greyhounds and fostered them for over 30 years, and loved to rescue animals from shelters.

Sherrille is survived by her son; Richard Simmons of Elkhart IN, daughter; Tammy (Al) Churchill of Jones MI, grandchildren; Andrew (Debra) Churchill of Cassopolis MI, Matthew (Taylor) Churchill of Grand Rapids MI, Rachel Simmons-Ettinger of Fountaintown IN, and 3 great grandchildren.

Sherrille is preceded in death by her parents, sister Joyce Lynn Berger and grandson-in-law Clint Ettinger.

Cremation has taken place. Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 14, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Newberg. Memorial donations may be directed to Cass or Elkhart County Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be left at www.materralstonfuneralhome.com .
