Richard (Rich) Dean Rumsey, age 66 of Marcellus, Michigan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.
He was born in Three Rivers, Michigan on July 26, 1953 the son of Duane (Duke) Archie Rumsey and Mary Marie (Reames) Rumsey. On June 18, 1993, in Cassopolis, Michigan he married Susan Marie Stanard who survives.
He owned Rich Rumsey Mechanical, a heating, cooling and plumbing business.
Rich was the #1 Super-Fan of his grandchildren’s sports. He was very active in the community, volunteering for many years for Marcellus Fire and Ambulance and helped the Marcellus Police Department. Saturday mornings were spent with his buddies having breakfast at Happy Landing. He loved snow skiing, camping & driving his 1979 CJ7 on the sand dunes. Rich also enjoyed mowing lawns and was a jack of all trades that would help anyone.
Rich is survived by his wife Sue; three daughters Schantel (Jim) Myers-Harvey of Dowagiac, Lisa (Tom) Laskarides of Marcellus, Kylie Rumsey of Marcellus; four grandchildren Grant McNally, Jackson Laskarides, Sophia Laskarides, and Taylor Myers; mother Mary Boling of Constantine; and one sister LouAnn (Bob) McClain of Marcellus. He is preceded in death by his father Duke Rumsey and his step-father Bob Boling.
Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to the Melanoma Clinic at University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center, 1500 E.
