Richard Dale Kahler, age 77 of Marcellus, Michigan passed away Thursday, September 10th, 2020, at Bronson Lakeview Hospital.

He was born February 7, 1943 in Three Rivers, Michigan to Bernard Dale and Eulah (Standard) Kahler. He was trained as a Medic in the Michigan National Guard and was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana and Fort Sam in Houston, Texas.

Richard was united in marriage to JoAnn Powell at the EUB Church in Marcellus on October 9, 1965.

Richard was employed for 32 years by General Telephone Company of Michigan.

Richard was an avid deer hunter most of his life and enjoyed hunting trips out West.

Richard is survived by his wife JoAnn, two daughters; LaShel (Craig) Mencl of Lawton and Jennifer (Ben) Fisher of Marcellus, one son; Troy Kahler of Marcellus, eight grandchildren; Branden (Carly) Kahler, Adam Kahler, Kyle (Chelsea) Kahler, Sean (Colleen) Mencl, Jacob (Summer) Mencl, Sarah Mencl (Chad Stewart), Sydney Fisher and Madison Fisher, seven great-grandchildren; Lundyn Kahler, Nora Kahler, Nolan Kahler, Sean Mencl, Josie Mencl, MaKaya Marcoux and Finnigan Mencl, two sisters; Patricia (Ronald) Swartz, Marilyn “Sue” Essex of Three Rivers, one brother Larry (Robin) Kahler of Marcellus, his sister-in-law Judy (Eric) Singley of Edwardsburg and brother-in-law Rock (Mary Kay) Powell of Marcellus and several nieces and nephews.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Ronnie Kahler and one brother-in-law Wayne Essex.

Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 3pm-5pm Friday, October 9th, 2020 at Mater-Ralston Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 5pm, Friday, October 9th, 2020 at Mater-Ralston Funeral Home with Tim Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Marcellus Cemetery.
