Norman Wayne Essex, 77, of Marcellus, passed on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at home. He was born in Dowagiac, Michigan on November 25, 1942 the son of Frank Dixon Essex and Edith Francis (Alden) Essex. On March 7, 1964 he married Marilyn (Sue) Kahler who survives. Wayne was a Journeyman working for GM for many years. He loved animals especially his dogs and enjoyed being the girls softball coach for Marcellus Community Schools when they won the 1986 State championship. He loved sports especially The Chicago White Sox, University of Michigan football, New England Patriots and had a great memory for sports statistics. He was also known for his Wayneisms. But most importantly he loved his friends and family and being outdoors, hunting and fishing with his father in law. He enjoyed talking with anyone about everything he was an avid music listener, Doo Wop, Tom Jones and Elvis were some of his favorites.Wayne is survived by wife Sue; three daughters Kendra Essex of Marcellus, Stacey (Troy) Essex-Miller of Peru, Indiana, Kimberly (Gordon) Essex-Brunner of Three Rivers, Megan (Cody) Mikel of Marcellus, seven grandchildren Kymera Brunner, Hunter Brunner, Brayton Young, Taylor Miller, Neil Miller, Carter Mikel, Camden Mikel; and two lifelong friends Ron Swartz and Mark Hari both of Marcellus, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents, two Brothers Neil Essex, Lavern Essex and best friend Frank Gratkowski. Cremation has taken place and private family gathering will take place at a later date.
