Lois J. Sternbergh

Lois J. Sternbergh age 98, of Jones, MI passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014.
She was born September 7, 1915 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of John Raymond and Mabel Sue (Brace) Twerdy. She married Philip A. Crowder who preceded her in death. Later she married Russell H. Sternbergh and he also preceded her in death.
She formerly worked at Dixie Cup Manufacturing, making ammunition during WWII. She was a LPN from 1946 to 1965 when she retired, working for Lakeview Hospital, Paw Paw, MI and Watervliet Hospital. Lois also did voluntary work at Lakeview Hospital after she retired. She loved to garden, bowl, fish and hunt as well as spending time at Homer, MI and Drummond Island, MI.
Surviving is one son, Phillip W. Crowder of Paw Paw; four step-children, JoAnne (Gary) Brown of Ft. Myers, FL, Mary (Norman) Lunsford, Marcellus, MI, William (Carol) Sternbergh, Newport Richey, FL and James (Sharron) Sternbergh of Paw Paw, MI; 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband’s and one step-daughter Sherry L. Sternbergh.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. Monday, July 21, 2014 in the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home, Marcellus.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in the funeral home with burial to follow in Poe’s Cemetery, Jones, MI
