Ernest Bernard Porath, 92, of Marcellus, Michigan passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 in Dowagiac MI.

He was born in Berwyn, Illinois on September 23, 1928, the son of Ernest Porath and Rose (Mohnen) Porath.

Ernie was married May 22, 1948 to Ellamae Hibbard in Three Rivers MI.

Ernie was a Manager and Owner for many years at Action Garment in Benton Harbor and Schoolcraft servicing the local community.

Ernie was an absolute joy, whenever you would see Ernie you would be guaranteed to receive a big, hearty and welcoming smile. Ernie enjoyed helping people, from giving rides to the store, fixing a broken step or repairing a porch board, he just loved giving back and doing for others. He was a proud member and past Grand Master of the Volinia-Marcellus F. & A.M. #222, he was an Eastern Star Life member where he was a past Worthy Patron, a long-time Lions Club member, and a devoted member at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Ernie is survived by his; daughters, Sarah (Kevin) Reuter, Melissa (John) Schick, his sons, Mark (Candace) Porath, Todd (Connie) Porath; and 10 grand children; 10 great-grand children.

Ernie is preceded in death by his wife Ellamae Porath; his daughter Beatrice Porath; his parents Ernest and Rose Porath and his sisters Agnes Sabonis and Catherine Torrans.

Private graveside services will be held at Fish Lake Cemetery with Pastor James Smith officiating. Memorial donations may be directed to the Marcellus Food Pantry or Trinity Episcopal Church, Three Rivers. Online condolences may be left at www.materralstonfuneralhome.com .
