Charles “Chuck” Riggs, age 60, of Marcellus, MI, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, MI
He was born June 17, 1954 in Dowagiac, MI, the son of Robert and Marlene (Stevens) Riggs. On June 30, 1973 in Buchanan, MI he married Carol Ann Lamb who survives.
He has been employed with the Village of Marcellus for over 37 years, was a 15 year volunteer for the Marcellus Fire Department and a member of the Marcellus V.F.W. Post No. 4054 Men’s Auxiliary. Chuck was an outdoors man who loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids and loved being a Pa Pa. He and Carol traveled to Florida for 3 months in the winter time every year. Chuck was just an all around wonderful man and will be missed by many. He was hard working and dedicated to his family, job and community.
Surviving besides his wife Carol, is one daughter, Heather (Jeremy) Miller of Lawton, MI and one son, Corey (Brooke) Riggs of Marcellus; his mother, Marlene; one sister Dawn (Les) Melville and one brother John (Nan) Riggs all of Marcellus along with five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Marcellus High School. Memorial donations may be directed to the Chuck Riggs Memoral Fund in c/o Wakelee United Methodist Church.
Arrangements were handled by the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home, Marcellus.
